GRAN CANARIA PWA 2018 | PROPER POZO

PHILIP KOESTER
I have been part of twelve events at Pozo and this was the windiest I have ever competed in, it was amazing. The level of the jumps was super high, even higher than any other year. The competition was exciting and I enjoyed sailing with Ricardo and Brawzinho and all the other top guys. I feel under pressure with the level of the jumps a little bit. In a heat you have to land a push forward and a stalled double just to make it through. You have to make those and if I don’t I get pretty nervous. I am really enjoying my windsurfing right now. The smallest I used was a 3.7m with an 86 litre board, I could have been on a 3.2m but I don’t even own one! I did not order one, normally most years I don’t even use a 3.7m! This year was exceptional.

I don’t know how I landed the triple attempt. I think it was head first, nothing really bad happened, just a broken tooth and a headache. It was spontaneous, my dad and girlfriend were signalling to me that I was having a good heat and I had a minute and a half to go. I thought why not try the triple. I had not tried one in a long time and it seemed like a good moment to go for it.

This was the windiest I have ever competed in.
